Adjustable aggressive skates for your younger siblings

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

It’s always the perfect time to get your younger brother and/or sister into aggressive skating to help create a stronger generation of skaters with more skills than your World of Warcraft character.

But as a helpful reminder, we recommend that you don’t cheap out and get them some abominable Walmart creation that just barely resembles skates.

Noooooooooooooo

Soccer balls, WTF?!
kids-skates-3.jpg

Lucky for you and your siblings, USD just released their new JoJo Transformer adjustable skates which look awesome and Razors makes their extremely popular Genesys Jr. model. Both of these models are actually meant to be used for aggressive skating and function like the adult sized versions.

Have more fun at the skatepark =)

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Here’s a list of ways to make your skate park experience that much better. Feel free to add your suggestions in the comments below and win the satisfaction of helping others have more fun.

neil-happy-blog.jpg

The items are in no particular order…

1. Invite every rollerblader you know to come out to the park for a big session. Set a date and time etc…

2. Bring an extra pair of skates for the local kids to try out and get hooked on aggressive skating. A kid was skating some garbage “box store” skates and JH (AKA OMH) let him try on our shop pair of Carbons and the kid was stoked.

3. Bring a mini BBQ and cook up some food. Hot dogs are cheap as heck. Just keep the food outside of the park. I can’t stand it when everyone trashes the parks with spilled drinks and melted ice creams.

4. Have extra parts and tools with you. Nothing will ruin a session faster than loosing your bolts.

5. Skate something new at the park. Always skating the same park ledge in the street course? Why not try out the bowls and gain some skills on the coping.

6. Travel to a park you’ve never been to before or rarely go to. We just went to this small SJ park last Saturday that some of us had never been to and it was extremely fun.

7. Stretch and warm up ahead of time. Can’t stress this enough.

8. Film and take pictures. Really easy to catch all of your friends on camera having fun and doing stunts.

9. Upgrade to better wheels and bearings. You will be surprised at the difference they make, especially skating transition. You will roll smoother and faster with way less effort. I recommend Swiss bearings and Eulogy wheels.

10. Wear all your pads so that you are not constantly getting broke off. But…. if you don’t like to wear pads, you can still sneak some thin knee pads or gaskets under your jeans without anyone noticing and at least save some wear and tear on your knees.

11. WATER. Keep your session going longer by staying hydrated.

12. Keep it positive. Yes it’s corny or whatever, but this post is about having more fun at the park.

13. Challenge yourself with tricks outside of your comfort zone. If you go to the park and do basically the same tricks on the same obstacles every time you are going to progress at a very slow rate and most likely get bored of skating park.

14. Skate the whole time… if you want to improve your skills and add to your bag of tricks faster.

15. Go out for wings and beer (soda if your under 21) after the session. Great way to replenish the body and keep everyone in good spirits.

16. Say what up to the new guy/girl skating at your local park. Grow the aggressive skate scene.

17. Put up your favorite stickers. Props to Will for getting Aggressivemall stickers the highest up at the SJ Lake Cunningham park.

Now go tear up your local skatepark and have fun with your friends. Just don’t forget to still skate street spots or else Dre (AKA Paco Ass Dre) will be disappointed.

CDS Detroit Soul Plates of Yester-years: Lock on those early 90s rails

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Flash back 15 years when aggressive skate technology was just starting to progress and CDS Detriot made these wonderful soul plates to attach to your Roces or Rollerblade skates.

I was at my folk’s house the other day and I found a pair of Roces Moscows and some of my old used CDS soul plates that I remember installing on an even older pair of Roces. Well this is how you had to attach them on your skates. Damn that was a huge soul plate area that really locked you on those early 90s rails…

Gather together some tools.

Bored? Build stuff with what you got and skate it.

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

Sometimes you just got to be a little creative and put together some random objects to have a fun little skate session. We took an old couch out we had chillen in the back, a slightly busted rail, a drill and some screws and ended up with a couch coping session. It didn’t last too long because after a little while the rail started breaking in the middle and the couch started collapsing. In the end though it was worth the small effort it took to make it happen.

We even filmed the 270 back royal trick tip for you that you can view here. Just in case you missed the first post.

Lake Cunningham night session 6/17 (everyone go again).

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

That’s right. You get your 24 hour notice that we will again be going to California’s LARGEST skate park this  Wednesday night from around 7-9:30(when they close).  Remember it’s $5 to skate, but we found out it’s free to park.  You will probably need something to cover your elbows (a l/s shirt, pads, socks, bagels etc.) and most definitely a helmet.

Razors Genesys Skate Exploded

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

Ok so the skate has not literally been blown up in one of those huge cinematic Terminator 4 explosions.

We had taken this picture a while back for fun because it shows all of the parts of the Razor Genesys model skate in one view.

Razor skates are designed so that anyone can easily replace the parts on them when they wear out from skating and Razors does a great job of keeping all of their replacement parts in stock. I know everyone is thankful for that!

…but the public always demands more and this time its MORE COLORED REPLACEMENT PARTS!

Denial Go & Roll Tye dye shirts available at AMALL now.

Friday, April 10th, 2009

BCSD Winner Montre Livingston. photo courtesy of J. Stephenson at www.be-mag.com

A few of you might recall those super cool  shirts that Jon Jon and Montre Livingston were wearing at BCSD this year, the infamous Denial Go & Roll tee’s but with a splash of tye dye flavor. Well we were lucky enough to get our hands on a few of these shirts (in red and black) and it just so happens that Jon Jon Bolino actually hand does all of them, and denial gives him a decent chunk of change for every one sold.  So if you are down with the tye dye’s, don’t let these get away, because once they are gone… That’s it! And if we get more, you don’t want to be the last chump in your hood to get one either… so get one now! Available now for $24.00 HERE.

The back of amall….IN THREE DEE!

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Jose just sent this over to me.

yesterday i rendered out a test pan of the Amall environment, so i can see how its starting to shape up, and so i can catch small errors that are there (like certain objects not touching the floor) i am hoping to be done with this one soon, so that i may start laying out the uv’s for this environment

If you have ever been here, you will notice all looks familiar. I was excited to see this, and it made me want to go skate - but it’s raining today. Good job so far Jose, can’t wait to see how it turns out.

Boschi Pope redefines the term ‘gangsta-blada’

Friday, January 30th, 2009

I’m sure some of you remember seeing or hearing about NY skating legend Boschi Pope, who made several video appearances and tore the scene up a few years ago. Well he’s back in the lime light for 2009 and this it’s for something other than skating…

Cops grab 17 Stack Money Family members, shut down Hamilton Heights crack ’supermarket’

BY KERRY BURKE and BARBARA ROSS
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

Thursday, January 29th 2009, 7:51 AM

They sold crack around the clock from a stately Harlem building and the Rollerblading boss showed off on YouTube, but Wednesday cops pulled the plug on the Stack Money Family.

In a morning sweep, cops arrested 17 members of the dope-dealing gang that had residents of a seven-story apartment building at 135 Hamilton Place living in terror.

“I was afraid even to look out the window,” said one tenant, who applauded the crackdown. “I’m glad to have my building back.”

The gang’s leader Boschi (Bloodie) Pope, 22, has allegedly run the gang from Rikers Island, where authorities taped his incriminating conversations.

The secretly recorded tapes made at Rikers, allegedly capture Pope instructing his girlfriend, Tiffany DuBois, 21, on how to resupply the gang’s crack stash, prosecutors said.

DuBois, the mother of Pope’s child, was among those arrested Wednesday.

Before a parole violation got him jailed at Rikers in May, Pope posted YouTube videos demonstrating his inline-skating skills.

Other videos of block parties thrown by the Stack Money Gang on its turf were also posted on the popular Internet site.

After getting complaints from residents that the gang had turned their building into a 24-hour crack supermarket, cops launched sting making 24 undercover drug buys.

For the past three years, the gang sold crack from apartments in the building, hallways and even the lobby, cops said.

The gang even had a code book with terms like “put the hat on” for a call to arms, and “red rag” for get out.

“They’re your everyday, ordinary terrorizers,” said Dan Rather, head of the Manhattan district attorney’s firearms unit.
