I am more than excited to announce that we have collected a total of $5,335.00 for this years AIL SCHOLARSHIP FUND! I owe a huge thanks to each and everyone of you that has donated! You have made it possible for kids to attend our AM event that may not have had that opportunity. There are kids who DREAM of attending Woodward and NOW…. they will get to! They will also get to be a part ofthe AIL presented by ROLLERBLADE World Championships September 28-30th!!!

I ran the 26.2 mile marathon on June 3rd! It was an incredible experience but EXCRUCIATING to say the least! :) I kept each of you in my heart and kept reminding myself of WHY I WAS DOING THIS! THANK YOU so VERY MUCH!

Please contact me if you know of anyone who could use a scholarship for the AIL Championships event. I will get an application to them or to you so that you can get that back to me ASAP.

AIL week at WOODWARD WEST
Week 7 at Woodward West is AIL week. Please contact me if you are interested in attending. ALL AIL competitors will receive a coupon for $150 off of their weeks tuition. Its going to be a great week! Richie is planning a week of fun where you will get to work on your lines & tricks for the Championships event. Rumor has it…. Chris Haffey will be there to!

So, I have discount coupons… if you need me to send you one let me know ASAP. You will only get the discount with coupon.

LAST MINUTE QUALIFIERS
We are in the process of making some last minute qualifier stops. Please keep checking our website for updates. We are hoping to schedule an EAST COAST stop at the end of August (possibly at Woodward East) and a MID WEST event in OHIO. So please stay tuned. Nothing is set as of right now. We want to make sure we can make them happen successfully! We do want everyone to have the chance to qualify though. It is going to be an AMZING INLINE EVENT!!!!

SCHOOL TOURS & CLINICS
Rollerblade & AIL spent a huge part of this year visiting schools! Wow… what a huge success! It has been amazing seeing all those faces cheering & wanting to know more about our sport. Team Rollerblade has done an OUTSTANDING JOB representing our sport and getting our sport known out there. We even got to perform in TIME SQUARE this year and take part in quite a few morning shows!

We have also been visiting skate parks and setting up clinics to promote park skating & skate parks. When your out there…. ALWAYS remember that you are a role model to someone! Talk about what you do and why you do it! It is contagious!

Well, I have probably taken up enough of your time as it is so I will end this recap for now. Championship information will be released next week so stay tuned!

CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT INFO
Event info for the Championships event will be out VERY SOON! We are in the process of putting together packages & event schedules. It is going to be a HUGE EVENT. We are getting excited and promise to get info out ASAP! If you have competed at an AIL EVENT, you are QUALIFIED! SO… Reserve September 28-30 for the CHAMPIONSHIPS EVENT!

Skate the Hate 2007 results

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

The contest went off this past weekend to say the least…
Thanks a lot for supporting this event. With over 50 competitors and probably an additional 30-40 spectators. I think that rollerblading is really making a come back as a whole and this event showed me that its very much alive in New England. A lot of new faces came out to the event.

The 16 and under kids killed it - and Ryan Strout from Maine ended up taking it in the end with a soul on a high kink rail to 9 foot gap off the flat.

Johnny Wu once again took the OG 25+ comp with consistency , and style, which resulted in numerous lines, as well as a soul and slash stance frontside down the kink.

The level of skating in the open class was also incredible. Kids were really determined to win and in the end Benny Strout from Maine took the comp. He was lacing at each spot and ended the comp with a disaster true top porn over a sidewalk to the down rail.

Too much went down at the contest to really sum up in text but the results in text are:
“GROM” - 16 and under:
1st Place: Ryan Strout - Cape, ME
2nd Place: Brandon Cummings - Medford, MA
3rd Place: Dylan Hopp - Warwick, Rhode Island

“OG’” - 25 and older:
1st Place: Johnny Wu - Westport, MA
2nd Place: Julio Ayamiya - New York, NY
3rd Place: Pete Wujick - Brighton, MA

“OPEN” - 16-25
1st Place: Benny Strout - Cape, ME
2nd Place: Taylor Greene - Sudbury, Ma
3rd Place: tie - Jimmy Gill - Walpole, MA/ Mike Dempsey - Cheshire, CT

Awards:
Best line: Kyle Courture
Biggest gap: Jimmy Gill
Worst fall: Taylor Nelson
Most old school: Eric Dalnas

Strout brothers: Denial / AMall:

Thanks a lot for supporting the second Skate the Hate contest in Carlisle, MA!

Brandon Cummings - 16 and under

Taylor Nelson - 16 and under

Ryan Strout

Mark C. - 25 + division

To all involved with in the sport of inline skating

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007
Attention to all of you involved in the sport of INLINE SKATING…

To those of you who do not know me, my name is Pam Velasquez. I am a director at Woodward West and I also run the Amateur Inline League presented by Rollerblade along with my partners Richie Velasquez & Cory Miller.

As you all know… the AIL has sky rocketed and become a very successful inline series for our amateur athletes. We cannot thank each and every one of you enough for your support & dedication. It has been a privilege to get this AM series off the ground.

September 28-30th this year, we will be hosting the AIL World Championships event at Woodward West in Tehachapi, CA. This event is going to be HUGE and packed with fun activities, contests, giveaways, & the annual AIL Award banquet. Competitors will have the opportunity to skate along side their favorite Pro’s and learn more about their favorite companies. Our 16 & up Advanced division will even have the opportunity to compete along side the top 10 (invited) Pro’s for a CRAZY AMOUNT of $10,000!

For those of you who have been blessed and fortunate to attend our qualifiers and are able to make it out to the finals with your parent’s support… remember to say “THANK YOU” to your parents for their support!

There are many kids & teenagers who are less fortunate and never get to attend events or activities within the sport they love. And for that reason, I will be running a 26.2 mile marathon on June 3rd in San Diego, CA to raise money for underprivileged kids so that they will have the opportunity to compete and participate in the EVENT OF THE YEAR!

Lets unite together, as a sport, and help those less fortunate get involved! The more we raise, the more we can do such as paying for contest fees up to providing a full paid trip (including airfare, & event fees).

The AIL has established a parents committee to oversee and carry out this project. They will oversee all funds and distribute funds in the best way possible to allow us to get the most out of what we are doing. A big thanks to Heather Daily of Indiana for heading this project!

How to Donate
You may log onto http://www.active.com/donate/inlineleague and donate online with your credit or may also send Money orders or checks to:

AIL/ Scholarship Fund
28621 Augusta Way
Tehachapi, CA 93561

We will keep everyone updated on how much we have collected over the next 9 weeks leading up to the event where I will “attempt” to run 26.2 miles. If everyone would even donate a $1, we could collect thousands to make a difference in our sport.

If you know anyone who deserves some help or a full scholarship for the World Finals, please have them personally write a letter addressed to: AIL/ Scholarship Fund and let us know why they should be chosen for a Scholarship (your personal reference always helps too)! The mailing address is the same as above.

Our Scholarship board will then evaluate and distribute the funds the best they can. We hope that we are able to add MANY smiles to the sport of Inline this year!

My training has NOT been easy but what keeps me going is the thought that I may make a difference to those individuals who did not have a chance before I started! So, please join me in the effort to make a difference!

Thank you,
Pam Velasquez
