Pushing Skate Weight
Yesterday Party Time Dre weighed almost all of the skate set ups we offer (complete, pro, boot only etc.) and this morning I just added the weights to the skate descriptions under features for those bladers out there concerned with skate weight. We have a few highlights listed below but please keep in mind that we only weighed all of our readily available skate set ups and not any custom ones:
(All weights based on a single size 9 skate)
Lightest Boot:
Roces Majestic 12 Boot: 2 lbs. 4 oz.
K2 Fatty Pro Boot: 2 lbs. 4 oz.
Lightest Stock Skate (Manufacturer’s Set Up):
K2 Fatty Pro Complete: 3 lbs. 8 oz.
Lightest Set Up (By Aggressivemall):
Roces Majestic 12 Pro (w/ Kizer Fluid 3 Frames): 3 lbs. 6 oz.
Roces Majestic 12 Pro (GC Featherlite Set Up): 3 lbs. 6 oz.
K2 Fatty Pro Team (GC Featherlite Set Up): 3 lbs. 6 oz.
Heaviest Boot:
USD Dominic Sagona Boot: 3 lbs. 10 oz.
Heaviest Stock Skate (Manufacturer’s Set Up):
USD Dominic Sagona Pro Skate: 4 lbs. 14 oz.
Lightest Valo Boot:
Valo Alex Broskow Boot: 3 lbs.
Lightest Xsjado Boot:
Xsjado Damien Wilson Boot: 3 lbs.
As you can see, part of the reason why the classic Majestic 12 UFS skate and the classic K2 Fatty Pro UFS skate still remain popular after all of these years is because they continue to be the lightest stock skates currently available (Deshi does have the Carbon coming to shake things up…) with their simple old school designs.
Please note that a light skate does not necessarily mean it is “better” than other skates and a heavier skate does not mean it is “worse”. As we have observed from pro rollerbladers over the years, they can pretty much skate any skate out there and still make it look effortless.
